Exact decomposition of a Gaussian-averaged nonlinear function.
In nonlinear optics we are frequently measuring the functional dependence of a physical parameter on light intensity. This immediately presents a problem, since by their nature real optical beams have a varying transverse intensity profile. Any nonlinear measurement will inherently be different at the center of the beam than it is at the edges. A spatially integrated whole-beam measurement must...
متن کاملMultiscale Information Decomposition: Exact Computation for Multivariate Gaussian Processes
Exploiting the theory of state space models, we derive the exact expressions of the information transfer, as well as redundant and synergistic transfer, for coupled Gaussian processes observed at multiple temporal scales. All of the terms, constituting the frameworks known as interaction information decomposition and partial information decomposition, can thus be analytically obtained for diffe...
متن کاملOn generalized averaged Gaussian formulas
We present a simple numerical method for constructing the optimal (generalized) averaged Gaussian quadrature formulas which are the optimal stratified extensions of Gauss quadrature formulas. These extensions exist in many cases in which real positive Kronrod formulas do not exist. For the Jacobi weight functions w(x) ≡ w(α,β)(x) = (1− x)α(1 + x)β (α, β > −1) we give a necessary and sufficient ...
متن کاملDevelopment of Nonlinear Lattice-Hammerstein Filters for Gaussian Signals
In this paper, the nonlinear lattice-Hammerstein filter and its properties are derived. It is shown that the error signals are orthogonal to the input signal and also backward errors of different stages are orthogonal to each other. Numerical results confirm all the theoretical properties of the lattice-Hammerstein structure.
متن کاملTime-averaged quadratic functionals of a Gaussian process.
The characterization of a stochastic process from its single random realization is a challenging problem for most single-particle tracking techniques which survey an individual trajectory of a tracer in a complex or viscoelastic medium. We consider two quadratic functionals of the trajectory: the time-averaged mean-square displacement (MSD) and the time-averaged squared root mean-square displac...
